Yetis Break Through Late to Defeat Salsa Verde 1-0 (10/19)

In a tightly contested defensive battle, the Yetis earned a 1-0 victory over Salsa Verde on Monday night, scoring the game's only goal in the closing moments of regulation on opening night of the 2026 Fall Season

After two scoreless periods and most of the third period deadlocked, the Yetis finally broke through with just 3:13 remaining in the third period. With the clock counting down, Nick Battaglia (#91) capitalized on an even-strength opportunity, finishing a setup from Justin Mellina (#19) to give the Yetis a late 1-0 lead.

The goal proved to be the game-winner, as the Yetis shut the door defensively over the final minutes. Goaltender Stephen Battaglia was flawless between the pipes, stopping all 12 Salsa Verde shots to record the shutout and secure the victory.

Salsa Verde received a strong performance from goaltender Kyle Rogers, who kept his team in the game throughout the night with 17 saves on 18 shots. Rogers' efforts helped maintain a scoreless tie deep into the third period before the Yetis finally found the breakthrough.

The Yetis outshot Salsa Verde 18-12 and were rewarded for their persistence with the late winner. A scoreless game for nearly 27 minutes came down to a single play, and Nick Battaglia's late third-period strike was enough to lift the Yetis to victory.
